Stina winery occupies a stunning setting on the waterfront of Bol, a picturesque town on the island of Brac off Croatia’s southern Dalmatian coast. The island is famous for its vibrant white stone which is known locally as “stina”, and the winery itself is housed in a white stone building which once served as Brac’s cooperative winery. Stina was founded by local winemaker Jako Vino in 2009 and has since become a benchmark for impressive wines made from classic Dalmatian grape varieties like Posip and Plavac Mali.

This charming sparkling wine is crafted from both international and indigenous varieties, featuring Chardonnay alongside the local Posip and Vugava grapes. The Vugava variety in particular is little-known outside of Croatia and Jako Vino is currently the only commercial producer working with the variety. Vugava brings plenty of freshness and aromatic fragrance to this particular cuvee, while the Posip adds rich fig and dried apricot notes to complement the stone fruit and bright citrus of the Chardonnay.

Jako harvests all of the grapes by hand and once in the winery he uses the Charmat method of fermenting the juice in a sealed stainless steel tank. The result is a light and elegant sparkling wine that is bursting with fresh fruit flavours and a bright streak of acidity.
